What’s the first thing you do when you have a question you need an answer to? Nowadays, the majority of people would answer ‘Google it’. It’s the most popular search engine, able to provide users with millions of results at just the click of a button. So, how can you get to the top of those results? The most common way is by using Search Engine Optimization (SEO), this strategy involves identifying relevant keywords to use on your website so over time you will rank higher in searches. However, the quickest way is to use Google ads. By paying Google, you can create ads for your business associated with specific keywords and interests that will then show up within the top few results of a related search.
How can you make most out of Google Ads?
We’ve broken down our favourite tips to help you get maximum output out of a tight budget when using google ads.
Target Efficient Keywords
Keywords containing between 2 and 5 words have the highest conversion rates. Using one word is likely to be more expensive and receive less conversions, whilst using more than five words may not get any at all. Choosing keywords that are familiar to your business can help your ads perform better in search results. For example, if you run a t-shirt brand that only focuses on sports shirts, and you target keyword phrases like ‘t-shirt,’ your ads may be too broad and might not get any clicks. Alternatively, you can go more in-depth with the phrases like ‘black sports t-shirt’ or ‘red sports t-shirts.’ This means you won’t be competing with advertisers who use ‘shirt’ or ‘t- shirt’ as their keywords.
How can you make informed decisions about keywords?
One of our biggest tips is not to use the Google Keyword Planner tool. It’s very common and your competitors are probably also using it, which means you’re all competing for similar keywords. We recommended tools like Ubersuggest instead, which can help you find the most accurate search terms—and also provide powerful data such as volume and cost-per- click trends.
Make sure you use data to back up your choices! Check your Google search console account for keywords that are driving traffic to your site and add them to appropriate ad groups. You might be wondering why you should put money behind keywords that are already bringing organic traffic to your site. The reason is that the best strategy involves promoting already successful keywords, alongside additional words – providing you with better insights and control over your Google ads.
Tailor Your Sitelinks
Adding sitelinks can help get you more leads. You can target specific web pages with sitelinks. For example, if you run a clothing brand that sells formal wear and sportswear, the sitelinks will allow users to go directly to the webpages they want. Redirecting users to specific pages can improve your sales. Sitelinks play a crucial role in ad performance. Use them more effectively to improve your campaign performance.
